3.15.13 - Why So Serious?

Written by Drew on .

I hope you folks are ready for this poster...it instantly became one of my favorites.

Here's a few words from the Head of the NOHS Graphics Art Department - Mr. Josh Howard himself:

Ken Holland.... He thinks you've forgotten about his diabolical genius.  It's time you realize it can't be fully understood.  Sometimes things needs to be torn down, ripped apart, or set ablaze to become what they were always meant to be.  The Wings are no exception.  These trying times of adversity are just what needs to happen.  Does it suck from a fan standpoint?  Absolutely.  Holland isn't perfect.  Let's hope this movie ends better than a pile of Ilitch's money lit ablaze and Batsyuk being attacked by a Justin Abdelkader wielding, two faced Mike Babcock.  Darkness must fall on Gotham for a hero to truly rise.  Hate Holland if you want, but it's all part of a master plan.  Whether it works or not will be judged years from now.

It's your Gameday Movie Poster for tonight's game against the Oilers.  Make the jump for the goods.

Red Wings Recap: 3.13.2013

Written by Sully on .

This game featured a strange pre-game show on Red Wings Live. The crew thought they’d try different things to “power up” the Red Wings Powerplay, and came to the conclusion they would achieve this by tossing different appliances on the desk. Things that contain power, was their logic, I believe. Really there should only be batteries, generators, and motors, but appliances? These are things that require power, and suck up juice. So why weren’t Cleary and Abdelkader thrown up there?

Good News, Great News, Amazing Game Day Movie Poster

Written by Jordan Reis on .

Due to an insane amount of travel for work I haven't actually been able to watch a single Red Wings game since what seems like 1985, in reality I haven't watched since the 2-1 win over the Sharks back on February 28th. It sounds like I didn't miss much. The Wings have been trapped in some alternate version of 2013 where  Dan Cleary and Justin Abdelkader are considered top 6 forwards.

Lets kick it up to 88 mph after the jump for all the goodies.

Blue Jackets vs Red Wings Recap: 3.10.2013

Written by Twig on .

The Red Wings have been dominated by the Jackets all year and today was no different. The Red Wings only took 3 of a possible 10 points. That's pathetic. Not only are the Jackets a bad team, they were also missing their 4 best players, yet they still owned the Red Wings twice in as many days.

Red Wings on Facebook: Pav's Computer

Written by Twig on .

I've been tossing around the idea of making a parody of the hilarious NFL Quarterbacks on Facebook for a while now and finally got around to it. Originally I was going to make fake accounts for every player, coach and fan in the organization. I was about half way done when Chris, being the Johnny-on-the-spot guy that he is, let me know about fakeconvos.com.

So here it is: A glimpse of a typical conversation between members of the greatest organization in pro sports.

Red Wings vs Blue Jacket Recap: 3.9.2013

Written by Ryan on .

Red Wings didn't give much effort today and fell to the Blue Jacket 3-0. This is the first time in the history of ever that Columbus won a season series against the Wings and they deserved it. We're missing a bunch of guys that probably shouldn't be on the team anyways (minus Helm, of course) and they're missing a few of their best players but still destroyed us. They have taken 7 of 8 possible points. 1/3 of their total points came against Detroit.

Embarrassed enough yet? More after the jump:

Oilers vs Red Wings Recap: 3.7.2013

Written by Twig on .

Solid win by the whole team tonight. Edmonton isn’t that great, but those are the games the Wings have to win if they’re going to make the playoffs. The bottom six led the way on the scoreboard tonight. Kindl, Emmerton and finally even Abby put one in.

Wings' World

ECKS-EL-ENT!

Today's Gameday Movie poster offers up more genius and mad photochop skills from the wizardly Josh Howard. Remember when we were the greatest team ever assembled? Was that ALL the way back when Tia Carrere was the hottest babe on television? Surely not! Our glory days are still upon us.

The Proposed Realignment - Thoughts and Reader Poll

Written by Chris on .

There’s been a million articles on the realignment that’s been proposed by the NHL, but we gotta hit on it too.  They’ve managed to somehow not squarely address the main concern that the NHLPA had with the last alignment, notably the uneven conferences.  However, there’s a lot of good too.  Let’s just hit the main points from the Wings’ perspective.  First here’s their division:

The NEW Central Division

Boston Bruins
Buffalo Sabers
Detroit Red Wings
Florida Panthers
Montreal Canadians
Ottawa Senators
Tampa Bay Lightning
Toronto Maple Leafs

Good parts:

Just look at that division.  Holy crap.  4 original six teams, plus hockey mad Buffalo and Ottawa. And don’t forget Yzerman’s team down there in Tampa, who are always fun to watch. Not to mention we get free wins again Florida forever, similar to Columbus.

Less travel!  Though there is still a decent amount with Florida and Tampa, but still.

Time zone – All Eastern conference teams, which means all games are EST.  Woohoo, no more 10:30 games!

Did I mention that we are in a conference with FOUR original six teams?

Coolest oriignal six picture on google.
