Outside of the rise of our defense, easily the best part of the playoffs has been the consistancy of our each of our lines, especially our third "kid" line. Nyquist has been absolutely Datsyukian. Brunner is tied with the team lead in goals. Andersson looks like a freaking veteran out there and is solid as a rock.
So why the heck are they barely seeing any ice time?
Take a look from last night:
It was approximately the same for our fourth line.

I understand the need to shut down the top Chicago players, it just seemed as if Filppula and Cleary and the like were tired at the end of the game last night. I think we can rely on the kids a little more, as they've proved themselves thus far in my eyes.
So I'm not complaining--how could I with the results--but I don't see being a two line team as sustainable over the long haul. Babcock has realized he can rely on the kids on D, but he needs to trust the forwards as well. They've earned it.
The Filppula-Cleary line is by far the most ineffective for me. Sure they get the odd chance, and good ones too, but they never come close to burying it because Cleary isn't skilled enough and Fil isn't tough enough.
@Reddy Yea, I feel bad for Z because he has to play with those two. Cleary tries hard but just isn't skilled enough and Fil is skilled but just doesn't try hard enough.
@marti783 @Reddy Yeah, I almost feel at times like that line is a more skilled third line...I say that because I feel like Z's defensiveness matched with Cleary and Fil's lack of offense adds up to basically a shut down line. It's worked great agianst Toews, but I would love to see Z back on a scoring line. Whatever Babs is doing, keep it up, lets send those (insert hockey team who has gained fans and high draft picks by failing miserably in the last 5-10 years) home crying! Not sure if I want to see Brunner back on the top line, he belongs there at the start of next season, but something is working on the third line and I don't like change anything, we are winning. Is it me or are the Red Wings winning with a young roster and riding a hot goalie! In 20+ years, I never thought I would say those things about the wings...bring on a new era in Detroit! LGRW!!!
P.S. How F'ked up is it that there a 25 outdoor games next year? *Lame (F - Anaheim, have fun skating on water)
