Hockey is Coming

Written by Drew on .

Morning, gang...it's time to get back to work, according to NHL.com:

After a marathon 16-plus hour negotiating session at the Sofitel Hotel that began Saturday afternoon, the sides announced an agreement in principle shortly after 6 a.m. Sunday.

We don't have a number of games yet...we don't have a start date.  BUT - apparently those details are going to come out soon.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen - it looks like we're going to have some NHL hockey this year,

I know I've taken the ostrich approach to this lockout...burying my head in the sand.  Maybe that wasn't the right thing to do.  Maybe I could have tried to come up with something to say on a daily basis to try and keep the site going.  But I said it at the beginning - if they canceled the Winter Classic - I was going to lose it.  They canceled it.  I lost it.

More after the jump.

Now as I sit here, in my new home in Sioux Falls, SD...out of enemy territory (though they appear to be Minnesota Wild fans out here)....I'm ready to get back to work and writing about the Detroit Red Wings.  I'm ready to start watching hockey again.

Apparently, all it took was us here at NOHS closing our doors to force the PA and the Owners to get into a room for 16 hours straight and hammer out this framework.

So can we be friends again?

And congrats to the USA World Junior Team on their gold medal.

Let's Go Red Wings.

Im happy that theres a season after all but I its hard to feel the same enthusiasm as I once did. Im definitely not going to any games anytime soon or buying any merchandise as much as I want to. Im 6 months pregnant and was originally planning on buying a ton of onesies, shirts etc for the baby but they will just have to wait a while till Im happier with the league and the team. Eventually Im sure Ill be as much of a fan as I was before all this mess started but right now Im just not feeling it.

Well, I'm back.  Haven't logged on for so long that I couldn't remember my password. LGRW, I guess. I'll be watching, but hard to have enthusiasm right now, I'm sure it'll come though.

I don't plan on following them any more. I'd rather they win than lose, and I'll be slightly happier hearing that they win. However, it is going to take some time and major changes for me to care again. I had already said for a long time that I loved hockey and the Wings, but I hated the NHL. Well, this lockout might have been the straw that broke the camel's back, but I had enough issues with this league to not care. Maybe in a few seasons with some changes, I'll come back, but there's not even a framework for that. I feel like the league now needs to enter into negotiations with me to resolve my lockout of their league if they ever want me to care again or get any of my money. I've enjoyed this site, and I hope that all of you who come back enjoy it.

I know that I shouldn't be, but I'm so excited there's going to be some season. I just woke up to read this news. I took the same ostrich approach as you did and just refused to talk about it, or any hockey because talking about it was too frustrating and frankly pointless Unfortunately, sharks fan boyfriend will probably not be as enthused about this miniseason, and I'm going to have to listen to him complain every time I watch again, because I'm sharing an apartment with the enemy now.
