Red Wings vs Stupid Nashville Recap: 2.19.2013
Written by Ryan on .
Really sour ending to a good game. Pavel worked his butt off tonight and helped the Wings get a point, but an undeserving team is celebrating the win tonight.
Rinne was decent, but that guy is a classless prick. Miller was standing too close to him after Detroit got a lucky bounce, so he jabbed him with the butt of his stick. I seriously dislike him and look forward to his name never being on the cup.
More after the jump:
The refs tonight were terrible. Major discrepancy in power play chances with plenty of chances to either call obvious penalties against the Preds, or not call cheap ones against Detroit. Our PK did well though and it’s not like our PP is deadly, so maybe it wouldn’t have mattered. Still would have liked some consistency.
Howard left the game with an upper body injury. We don’t know what happened yet or if he’ll be out for long, but rest assured we will let you know ASAP.
Datsyuk’s goal was unreal. He knocked a guy down in his own zone, grabbed the puck, then beat every Stupid Predator on the ice. I look forward to one day showing that goal to any future kids I help produce.
Detroit needs to do a better job of letting their goalies see the puck. It’s one thing to let someone screen the goalie, but when our own guys are doing it, it’s a problem. Seems Detroit gives up at least one goal per game where Howard or whoever is in net couldn’t see past his own man.
Next game is Thursday against the Blue Jackets. Losing streak must end.

Easily the best player in the NHL.
As for the game, I'm sure the neighbours heard me yell "F###!!!!!!" in overtime. The other teams have figured out Kindl - just power past him and there's nothing he can do to stop you. He's looking way too soft to be defending against NHL caliber players.
Maybe now after seeing Datsyuk almost beat Nashville by himself they might realize he'd be even better with a play maker on his wing like i don't maybe Nyquist just sayin
Definitely seems like Babe's gave Pavel the "shoot first" speech last night. I haven't seen him pull the trigger like that for a long time. Has anyone noticed that Ian White has a penchant for breaking sticks at the worst possible times?
I am sick of this. This team are not closers whatsoever. Our defense are playing like beer leaguers. Did anyone see Douche-ane's clearly offside goal the other night?
Also when did "No shooting" Fil come back. He could have had so many chances but he always looked for the dish.
Pavel Datsyuk is some form of god. This may have been his most impressive game that I've ever had the luxury of watching.
Why was he out there with Abby and Cleary? Not that either of them had bad games, but I was looking forward to seeing Tatar out there in the top-6. Our 3rd line (Andersson, Tatar, Eaves) were rarely, and I mean, RARELY on the ice. Or at least it seemed that way.
The 4th line played their hearts out. Tootoo especially. He's got some wheels, and I did not realize it until tonight.
Good game all-around. Unfortunate that we lost, but hey - we looked like the Detroit Red Wings that I know and love tonight.
@ThroatShot Wow, I noticed Eaves out there quite a bit. Must have just overlooked the other 2.
@Tnhgeno @ThroatShot I noticed Andersson because he contributed to the scoreboard, for the wrong side. Doh.
@ThroatShot @Tnhgeno I thought that line played real well. I would have Emmerton in the middle though. I sense a lot more heart out of him this year, he has really changed a lot of people's minds about himself.
Our D needs to get their shots on net, White had some bullets miss and every one else was blocked constantly. A block produces no shots on goal, no rebounds, and kills all momentum if we can't regain control. I was hoping to see Tatar on a line with Pavel but I guess Abby's size was wanted and Cleary's......something. I am glad he got a goal but let's be honest, Datsyuk gave him that one. Also good to see Eaves play so well, who needs Sammy anyways. Also; Dear Howard, please don't be hurt for long. Sincerely Detroit's last hope.
@JOHNxJOHN Abby presence created the need for Pavel to go through all of Nashville by himself. There's the upside to him, I guess.
@ThroatShot This is where we really miss Mule and Bert. Abby is good at forechecking and scrumming in the boards. He is not known for having good hands although when given time he can fire a mean shot. We need size and skill back with Datsyuk, someone who can clear space and do something with space. All night the Preds collapsed on Pav and left Abby and Cleary to their own. Of course it didn't matter to Pasha but still, some help would be nice.
Speaking of showing that goal to future kids, I'm at the hospital right now with my wife trying to give birth to our first. She has 1 1/2 hours to get her out so that she can be born on the day of such a memorable goal. I'd be able to show her that video and say, "You were born on the day *that* happened."
@ThroatShot congrats! It's going to be the greatest thing you ever do with your life.
I know I sound like a broken record, but Kindl? Really? He has wholeheartedly regained his title as King Bonehead from Quincey. I never have and never will get what others have seen in him... I didn't like him last year and I don't like him this year.
@brandik1313 his first penalty shoddy have even been clef and the third he had no choice but to take it. I'm not so sure about the 2nd, but he wasn't as bad as the scoresheet makes him look
I can see your point, but damn. He needs to start playing smarter.
@brandik1313 @Jordan_Reis Kronwall is not #1 or 2 D material. He does not think well or quick enough. His first pass is awful most of the time.
Fair enough. Kronner has not really had a good season so far. I don't know if it's the pressure to be the lead defenseman now that Nick Sr. is gone or what, but he needs to shake it off.
@brandik1313 he was +2 and had an assist as well. Out of everyone Kronwall seemed the worst. Maybe its was the hit, but I'd hardly blame Kindl for any of it.
