Done Deal?
It's been far too long since I posted anything on here...and for that I apologize. I have selfishly been taking a kind of "ostrich" approach to the CBA talks and have had my head buried in the sand. (I'm sure some of you could think of a more creative place for me to stick my cranium.)
But I stumbled onto NHL.com this morning to see a small byline that reads:
So of course, I clicked on it and read this:
Andy Strickland of the The Fan 590-AM in St. Louis reported Wednesday night that the 29-year-old defenseman has agreed to a two-year contract with the Detroit Red Wings. The deal, according to Strickland, is worth $5 million.
More after the jump.
Colaiacovo has 30 goals and 109 assists in 370 NHL games. He was a former first round draft choice of the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2001. He was shipped to the Bitter Blues in the deal for Lee Stempniak back in 2008.
Two things I know about Colaiacovo:
- I will be copying and pasting his name forever to avoid mis-spelling it.
- He injured himself hopping over the boards.
The defenseman definitely has some upside to his game - but seems to have the durability of Glass Joe from Mike Tyson's Punch-Out.
More to follow on this deal later....more to follow from me PERIOD, going forward.
I've missed you guys.
