Oh God: Lidstrom Announcement Tomorrow
Per the DRW Twitter:
The Red Wings have called a press conference tomorrow morning at Joe Louis Arena. Ken Holland and Nick Lidstrom are expected to speak.
It doesn't sound like a re-signing..as Josh just told me, Chesnokov said he's never announced live for re-signing.
Dreger agrees, saying:
Sure sounds like Lidstrom is retiring. Holland won't confirm. Says Lidstrom has earned the right to make his announcement tomorrow.

Going to be a sad day, that is for sure. Lets remember all he brought to hockey town and hope that our next captain can find a way to lead like his two predecessors. You cannot replace Stevie Y or TPH, but the Wings will still find a way to win. So goodbye to the classiest and greatest defense-man and most likely goodbye to the demolition man. We will not forget how awesome you guys are/were.

If (heaven forbid) Lidstrom does decide to (I can't say it), does that mean his driver (Holmstrom) will do what I can't say too?
@Crevek That's what most everyone on the team has said in the past (that they would go out together). Based on the time he was given last season, I didn't expect Homer to return this season anyway.
The Wings could take a huge leadership hit from this. If he retires that is. May take them a season to recover.

you know that feeling when you have this really awesome dog that you thought would live forever when he was young, but then started to prepare yourself for the end as he got older, then his day finally comes and you just had no idea how hard it would be? yup...
Tomorrow might become the biggest bar night in Detroit, for one reason or another.
Someone also pointed out that Ilitch wasn't supposed to attend according to that announcement, and I think he would be there for his retirement.
But Aaron Ward just tweeted that according to a source, he will be announcing his retirement tomorrow.
All I know is that I am massively panicking and I kind of want to cry. Is 11:02 am too early for a drink on a Thursday?

Hakan Andersson named as a source confirming Lidstrom's retirement by a Swedish hockey magazine editor.
I know the comments are excessive, but not everyone reading has Twitter.
Ok, so this could be lots of things:
1. Suter is meeting with the Preds this week so KH and Lidas want to make sure he knows that Lidstrom is coming back.
2. Lidstrom is going in for surgery on his ankle and will decide on his future upon the completion of his rehab.
3. The Wings are going in on some venture and Lidstrom is the face. The announcement is that Lidstrom has also invested.
4. Lidstrom will be a player-coach next season.
I can't think of anything else.

nooooo.i figured he'd retire though. tomorrow could be a really really bad day.i remember when my two favorites(mario & stevie) retired.i was crushed
