@ThroatShot Stevie Y does owe us for giving him a first rounder for Quincey...And...for...Commodore?
I have an inkling Holland may pitch for Bobby Ryan if Parise fall through...just an inkling!
Why is everyone inferring that with the Samuelsson signing and Tootoo signing, we're not going to get Parise? Let's not act like they chose Samuelsson and Tootoo over Parise. If we don't land Parise, there's probably a very good reason why...and that's IF we don't land him. I love the Tootoo signing but not crazy about the Samuelsson signing.
So with the signing of Sami and Tootoo that means we've put all our eggs in the Suter basket which is the right thing to do. Tougher to find franchise d-men than a 30 goal scorer. Forget Nash, I don't want him. Wait 'til next year and go after Gino because when Parise signs there they won't be able to keep Malkin.
@Heathus9 We should've and could've got both. If they want to play together we're screwed for getting either of them. I think the Pens would rather have Malkin over Parise too, so they must be planning long term. Plus they unloaded Staal. If they sign Parise because we didn't I will vomit.
@Heathus9 @Reddy Money left? You know that they can spend 10% over the cap, right? As it is, Detroit's got too many forwards so there are going to have to be moves made. Detroit will get Suter, I don't know about Parise, but Detroit will get Suter and a top-six forward, either by signing or trade, or both.

@Reddy My comment was poorly worded. Instead of trading for Nash this y,r trade for Malkin next while he's in the last yr of his deal and sign him long term after that. Everyone would take Malkin over Nash and Parise. If they wouldn't they should be fired. And if Parise and Suter go to Pitt I may become a Leaf's fan, the most drastic thing I can think of.
Oh my god we brought back Samuelsson. No joke. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2012/07/red_wings_bring_back_forward_m.html
From NHL.com - "Despite one report that Ryan Suter was on the verge of signing with the Red Wings, which he is still likely to do, both Zach Parise and Suter will wait until Monday before making a decision on their futures."

@Reddy I choose to take this as meaning that Suter has chosen Detroit and he's talking Parise into coming with him.
@Reddy Just remember that the numbers that everyone is quoting the media about available cap space is erroneous. They might end up trading either Quincey or Abdelkader AND the team can actually spend up to $77M.Anyhow, I'd bet there is a trade in the works, whether Detroit gets Parise or not.
And I still think Suter comes to Detroit.
@Reddy @Jay Argentina "No Parise or Suter meas this free agency was a failure imo. "
Whoa, did I miss something? Did they already sign somewhere? SERIOUSLY, off the ledge dude.
@Jay Argentina @Reddy Why? Does either of these signings mean anything regarding a top-six forward?
@Jay Argentina @garth I don't really care about trading for Nash, I'm pissed about these pointless signings. No Parise or Suter meas this free agency was a failure imo. What is it with KH and signing washed out players. I haven't questioned him before but now, this seems like bs.
@garth I would hope so :), sorry deleted my comment to add quotation marks just as you commented. (see above)
Looks like there are a lot of UFAs waiting to see what happens with Parise and Suter. Pretty much all the bigger names are still on the table.
I'm trying to keep this update as best as possible, im sure im missing some of the smaller name deals
According to NHL Live, we're not sending a representative to talk to Parise anymore :/ They're going to negotiate over the phone.
@JPoulin All teams were told to go home and none get a meeting since there were around 20 teams interested.
I think the Gustavsson signing is a good sign of things to come. It shows players still want to come to Detroit. I think he could have gotten more money and playing time elsewhere. It also shows that he is confident in the Detroit D, another factor in a goalie signing for less than possible market value.
We just signed Jonas Gustavsson to a two-year deal. I like this move a lot, as it gives us a young AND reliable back-up goaltender to Howard.
@moorecha The Monster!!! Now he can play for a real team and not crumble under the pressure of losing in Toronto
@SamuelS Bob Duff confirms it @asktheduffer this is a good pickup for the Wings (now im happy Garth)
@Jordan_Reis @SamuelS @askthedufferIt's a good signing, no doubt. I'm not quite at "happy" yet though, but I'm still optimistic.
