2013 Winter Classic - Toronto / Detroit Confirmed
Per Pension Plan Puppets (via WIIM): Bob McKenzie revealed tonight that the DET/TOR Winter Classic (and thus 24/7) is being finalized and will be officially announced in the near future.
Everything about this is incredible. Toronto is the perfect opponent. The last thing needed to make it perfect is to have it in the Big House, which is looking very likely at the moment.Hit the jump for more thoughts on the WC.
But even more incredible is the fact that the Wings will be on 24/7 next year. Ever wanted to know a little more about Happy Hudler's strange love affairs with the goaltenders? Or wanted to try to translate Homer's language? Or see some more of Emma Andersson? Or hear an unlimited amount of Babbles' babbles? Or just learn more about the wonder that is Pavel and Nick? Well now's our chance. Hopefully this gives Nick one more reason to stick around one more year.
I'll do anything I can to be there. I'm sure it'll be expensive, but it'll be worth it.
How about you guys? Is everyone as excited as me? How much would you pay to see this next year?

Yeah hopefully Nick sticks around one more year. It'd be great to get him on tape. Pav may have a chance at a stand up career after getting a wider audience.
Funny all the angry commenters on the ESPN article about it being at the Big House. There's a lot of butthurt there.
If theres any way i can be there i will. Love Ann Arbor can't wait to get back, this would just be perfect.
i have mixed feelings about the HBO special. Some mysteries about the wings I have solved in my imagination... know what I mean? I kind of like my own reality of how they are to each other and how they talk and play and how they are off ice, so HBO will ruin that for me... or not? Anyone feel the same way?
I mean what happens if there is a clip of Lidstrom talking about the universe like Bryzgalov has? Would you still think of him as the same?

1. I think we'll all have to face reality, and accept the fact that #5 will most likely be playing in the Alumni game (although I'd rather it not be that way)
2. I think there would be more parallels between Datsyuk and Bryzgalov than Lidstrom, except Datsyuk won't be drinking tea on the bench.
I wish they would've had 24/7 back when the Wings faced the Hawks. Imagine the antics they could've shown from Drapes, Malts, Ozzy...etc

Idle Curiosity for the Admins/Writers. Earlier this season (quarter of the way through), you did team grades for like 25% of the players, you guys going to do grades for the rest of the team soon or we going to be left hanging?

Sucks tho, I remember reading this interview with pavel a year ago, and he was talkin about nick and homer and said he was almost positive they'd retire together. This might make em stay around I hope, but if the difference is a cup then I won't be mad not seeing em life it this year so I can see em on 24/7 lol
Well, with me living in st louis, I saved up about $2000 I think, in march last year to see 4 wings games. Vs pit. Van. Chi. And Tor. And tho they only beat the Leafs it was so worth it. Ill be there again in Feb, seeing em play the Ducks, Flyers, Stars, Pred's and Sharks ! So that's been expensive since I got all glass seats, so ill have no problem saving up 1500 for this out door game. But hopefully I live in michigan by then

I moved to North Carolina 6.5 years ago - this is the perfect reason to come back for a visit. How soon can I get my hands on tickets???? How about a NOHS section??
@moorecha Do any of the NOHS authors have any inside connections with the Wings that could score us a huge group package of tickets???
@moorecha I honestly can't think of anything more useless. Even a Justin Bieber poster could be traded to SOMEONE for SOMETHING. I strongly urge a NOHS reader poll for any type of connection to the Wings organ-i-zation that could assist in an entire NOHS section at the game. Can anyone think of something more amazing than a NOHS section at the 2013 WC game in AA when Detroit beats Toronto 84-0? Hat tricks for everyone!!
@kingjeff353 Ha, at best, Drew knew a guy who worked there, but the only connections I have is with the Blue Jackets...gee, great.
I'm so excited! It being at the Big House will make tickets more affordable to poor college kids like me, compared to it being at Comerica. I'll pay whatever I have to in order to be there...
