All-Star Players Set

Written by Drew on .

2012ASGlogoWe've had a lot of good discussions going on around here over the past 24 hours...all of which are applicable to non-pancake related injuries, which is a good thing (knock on wood).  And like I said before, I'll leave the Conklin and the Free Agent talk to their respective posts.

The NHL finalized the list of players who will be playing in the 2012 NHL All-Star game in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.  We already know who the first six are: Daniel Alfredsson, Jason Spezza, Milan Michalek, Erik Karlsson, Dion Phaneuf, and Tim Thomas.

Make the jump to see who made the NHL's cut.

Let us begin our '12 ASG Roster by saying...

JIMMAH!!!

Let us hope that this is the first of what is to become a long, consistent string of All-Star calibur seasons for one James "Tiberius" Howard.  Here are the stupid goalies...

Brian Elliot?  The back-up from Ottawa?  Yeah.  For those of you who may not know, Brian Elliot is the main reason that St. Louis has been able to have a resurgent year (so far).  The 26 year old - though he looks like he's 40 - has posted a 15-5-1 record while boasting a .940 save percentage and claimed 5 shut outs so far.

Moving on to the defensemen...prepare to be outraged:

No Lidstrom?  Are you kidding me?  Yet they let this guy in...

Whatever.

And for the forwards...

2012allstarforwards1So if Lidstrom doesn't get based on the fact that his points aren't what they usually are...then why is Patrick Kane included in this list?  Logan Couture?  ZETTERBERG has more points than Logan Couture.  I hate this PC crap where deserving players are left off because we need representation from all 30 teams.

Thoughts?  I'm shocked that Lidstrom gets snubbed for the likes of Kimmo Timonen who has one freaking goal all season.

Congrats to Jimmy and Pavel...but come on, guys.

On NHL.com today, they had predictions before the real ones were released. With unanimity, they voted against Kane, Ovechkin, and Perry. Perry, while down this season, probably is the most deserving player from the Ducks. However, Kane being in here is an abomination. Honestly, Ovechkin prolly doesn't deserve it this season either. The main difference in the projected lists and these was that Evander Kane was in from WPG and not Kane. Oh, and Lidas was in. I choose to blame Kane for Lidas not making it lol.

I don't have a problem with them representing every team, I like that. But they shoulda took out sutter n put nick in, they don't need two d men for nashville. I'm surprised Price got the nod rather then Rinne or Fleury even tho I hate him, n he was terrible n last years a.s game lol. Franzen shoulda went instead of Kane, they don't need 3 fucking forwards. Its a favorites thing though. Jimmy deserved it but I was surprised he did get it. But that's awesome for him

Alright in the interest of fairness, no more than two players from each team.

@KevinMichael Then why are there 3 Blackhawks forwards?

@nicgrayson@KevinMichael I was saying that if people wanted it to be more fair, no more than two players to a team. No one deserves having three players less than the Haws. Good offensive team, but that's about it. If Kane should be there, so should Mulo or lil' Flip.

I hear ya there! This whole 'representatives from each team' deal is a load of crap! No Lidstrom? What's the deal with that? I thought you couldn't even HAVE an All-Star game WITHOUT him? These players that don't do much point wise but are going to the All-Star game anyways because of this stupid 'Representative from each team' deal the NHL has should at least be doing SOMETHING to at least earn their way onto the teams. Like you said, Kimmo Timonen got 1 goal yet Lidstrom's off? Zetterberg's off, yet Logan Couture? C'mon now. That just makes no sense.
