So it's becoming habit for me to hop out of bed, do the zombie walk to my office, get on the computer and check last night's scores.

I don't say this often - but thank you, Pittsburgh!

With the Pens Blog participating in our Eddie Olczyk project, and the Penguins taking care of St. Louis' game in-hand on us...those Penguins have given us two gifts in the past couple weeks.  Kinda makes me feel like river dancing.  Anyway, it's also always nice to see the Blackhawks lose...but damn those Predators.

Nashville has pulled even with St. Louis and Chicago at 64 points.  That giant of a goalie has won nine straight games.

Make the jump for more.

It's academic that Bubba will always be a pain to play - so long as they have that neck-less bulldog behind the bench.  They're 9-1-0 in their past 10 games.  And they've been doing it the same way they've always done - tough defense, solid goaltending, and scoring by committee.  Patric Honrqvist leads the team in goals with 14...crazy.

We won't see how our Red Wings match up against the Predators until mid next month when we invade Carrie Underwood's home town (apparently, they have a hockey team too).

What do you think the standings will look like by then?

The better Nashville plays, the less-likely they'll be to movie Ryan Suter before the trade deadline.  I know you guys want a power forward, but to get a marquee name like a Rick Nash or *shudders* Ryan Getzlaf - we'd have to give up something more than draft picks.  And even if Stuart wants out of Detroit (which will make me very sad) swapping out one of our better defensive defensmen for another scoring threat may not be what the doctor ordered.

But in the meantime, we've got to keep taking care of business.  We head into Montreal tonight for the final game before the All-Star Break.  It's a familiar circumstance heading into enemy territory to face a squad we should be able to handle...needless to say: I'm nervous.

Unless we get offered something worthy in return I don't see us trading Stuart now. If he truly wants out of Detroit I can see us trading him before free-agency starts for some picks. I think he knows the Wings are his best chance for a cup and if asked if he wants to be traded before or after the cup this summer I think he will choose after. For some reason I can only picture him in a Kings uniform, wonder what they have to offer.

I'll never be a Pens fan, but I'm glad they beat the B'Lose. Also? Jackman is a giant diving turd.

The idea of Stu leaving us makes me very, very sad. Therefore, I will ignore it...LALALALALA!!

LGRW!! Another win before the break, please!

Is it bad that I think I respect the Pens now? Like I don't like them, but I begrudgingly respect them.

@moorecha I've oddly been thinking the same recently. I don't think I'll ever be able to like them (other than the TPL for obvious reasons, I really don't like any other team), but what they've been able to do with all the injuries they've had this year is certainly commendable. That being said, I still think the Pens are our true rival (maybe Chicago and San Jose), and I'll never forget that game 7.

Shame the Pens gave them another loser point.

Tonight's a game we should win, but how do you get worked up for a crappy canadian team? That's gonna be the challenge. Dare I say, play Conklin and let him shoulder the Loss if we're gonna get one.

@Josh Howard It may be because of him that we get one though. It will be sad to see Stuart go, he has prevented so many goals by playing goalie #2.

Stuart is great and I don't want him to go either, but family comes first. Wouldn't be surprised to see him as a shark in the offseason to be at home. Whatever he decides is okay with me. We have Smith coming up and I think he'll do just fine next year. Also, I wasn't implying that Conklin would lose, simply that it would give Jimmy some rest and avoid a wasted Jimmy start.

@Josh Howard@Reddy Jimmy gets a rest all weekend. ASG weekend may include travel and mild mental exertion, but not much. Let him play tonight and he essentially gets a break for a week before Calgary next Tuesday. We need the points, and whether you blame Conk Block or not, the team plays better in front of Jimmah.
