30 Wins

Written by Drew on .

Things are looking good.  The Red Wings are riding a four game winning streak.  Last night, they brought their road record to ALMOST .500.  We found out that Conklin can win more than two games and stop all three in a shootout (he had never won a shootout game heading into this season).

We also found out that little guys can do the Swedish shootout move.  Jiri Hudler dazzled us with his best Z impersonation...

That's a beautiful site.

Make the jump for something else that's pretty.

First to 30 wins means we are on top of the Western Conference...

WCS011812

The Rangers defeat of the Nashville Predators last night kept us from being tops in the league...but there's plenty of time before we have to start worrying about the Presidents Trophy...if that's even something to worry about at all...(it isn't).

St. Louis remains idle today...but the slumping slug Buffalo Sabres roll into the United Center tonight.  Let's hope Ryan Miller and the gang can NOW fix whatever's bothering them.

The man sitting behind us seemed to think that The WINGS would be lucky to win and it was over for them if the game went to a shoot out. Thats when my 6yr son (Stars/WINGS Fan) chimes in," Sir, if it goes to a shootout, the stars are missing their 2 best shootout players. this leaves Ryder as the only threat... the WINGS have Datsyuk, Big Bert, Hudler and oh yeah Z! I think the stars would be lucky just to get a point out of this game... Right Dad?"

couldn't have said it better myself . Then my 9yr old son looks up at the rafters and says,"Wow dad! they've only won one Stanley Cup!!!!?" Ha! We didnt hear much the rest of the night from the man behind us, except the whining about not getting enough Power Plays. At the end of the game my 6yr old turns around, looks at the man and says, "See, I told you so!" We left to the chanting of "LETS GO REDWINGS" thru every hallway inside and walkway outside all the way to the train station. No matter where you go, there we are in every corner, WING FANS! That game was worth every penny, and the boys enjoyed staying up so late on a school night too! LGRW!!!!

I still think it is crazy; out of the top 6 teams in the west, 4 of them are from the Central Division.

This is where I hate the 3 point games! We have 1 point for a loss and the only reason St. Louis and Chicago are keeping it close is the fact that they each have six points for losing. Which is actually very deceiving.

Go, Red Wings, Go!!!

Oh well.. they can't use those points in the playoffs when they'll have to go to more OT and will eventually lose. @RedWingsRule

They can use those points to jockey for better playoff positioning though and that always bothers me. I actually liked the tie system, but they shouldn't have gotten a point for making it to OT and losing, a loss is a loss @Josh Howard @RedWingsRule

Would you be in favor of them going to 3 point games throughout? 3 points for a regulation win, 2 points for OT/SO win and 1 point for OT/SO loss? I am kinda torn on the issue as well. If they go to the three point game, it gives more incentive to win in regulation, and still the extra incentive to win in OT or SO rather than playing for the tie as it used to be in the old days.

@Jordan_Reis@Josh Yeah, and what bothers me the most is that they don't really deserve to have that much points. This is pretty much like a kids soccer game where they don't keep track of goals because "Everybody Wins". I like most of the changes the NHL has made in the past decade; but this one just bothers me. Boston and us are the only teams win one point in that category. We earn our points more than any other team in the league. And in the end that goes a long way, like Josh had mention, it will be the difference between winning and losing in the playoffs.

LGRW!!!!!

And I'm eagerly anticipating what Tick Tock has in store before trade deadline...a lot of cap space to work with ;) and they get to enjoy Vegas while talking strategy.
