Predators vs Red Wings Recap: 22 and Counting
Written by Jordan on .

This was by all accounts a playoff game for both teams tonight. Pavel Datsyuk has hit a level of skill that 99.9% of NHL players only wish they could achieve. I have never seen a player so dominate at both ends of the ice the way Datsyuk is. Pittsburgh can have Malkin, and Washington, Ovechkin. They don't come close to being as valuable as Pavel.
Recap after the jump
NOHS Three Stars of the Game:
First Star: Pavel Datsyuk. 5 shots, 5 takeaways, and assist and the game winner with 5.8 seconds left, it doesn't get any better than that
Second Star: Henrik Zetterberg. Just for showing up tonight while not 100% and giving us everything hes got. He also added another pointÂ
Third Star: Johan Franzen. He only played 13 minutes tonight, but made them count. Looks like Josh's poster worked.
NOHS Favorite Moment of the Game: Extending the streak in the final seconds of the game and hearing the home crowd go totally insane. This team is special. We are witness to one of the most dominate teams in NHL history. I can't wait to see what they do when they flip the proverbial playoff switch.
Next game is Sunday vs the Sharks on NBC. Puck drops at 12:30 pm
LGRW!
Idk I love our 3rd line. Their chemistry is great but they work so well on the boards atleast winning 2/3rds of the battles and half the time they do that its against one of the top 2 lines from the other team. And they always have a ton of energy and finish their checks and don't take dumb penalties. 4th line could be better yea but that goes for all the teams that's why its a 4th line lol but homer and mursak had some great passing going on between each other tonight, I though. And I like our d too esp when its ericson and commie, we need those big bodies to protect the goalie and block shots ! I wouldn't trade anyone this year. 02's team was amazing too though
And I agree with the hart trophy comment. Its usually gonna go to the bst point getter, but I think if u have a nominee who's also winning the selke while getting 84 points like pavel prolly will, plus a lady byng for getting 16 pen mins with that high skill level of play that should show more hart then 109 points and 30 takeaways plus 84 pims cough cough malkin !
I actually missed when Datsyuk scored the game winner, because I walked out of the room. Learned my lesson.
I watched the midnight replay and, holy crap, I agree about Pav. Our Russian is better than yours. Period.
And i think one of my favorite moments was in the third after we had a huge bout of pressure on Rinne there was a 2-on-1 and the way Ken Daniels said, "and now there's a two on one, hut Lidstrom is back!" made is feel like its was absolutely not a big chance for the preds to score at all, even though he was incredibly enthusiastic about it. Can't wait to hear him call a game nationally tomorrow.
@ChrissyKraceva Certainly will be better than the other tool bags that usually call the Sunday games.
HOLY FUCK THAT WAS AN AWESOME GAME!!!!! HELP ME, MY CAPSLOCK IS BROKEN DUE TO PAVEL'S AWESOMENESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously...what a freakin' excellent game!!! I have no voice & a migraine now, but I'm staying up to watch the replay on FSD.
WAY TO GO, BOYS!!!!!!
Was at the game tonight. Still can't even comprehend the amazingness of that game. Unbelievable. Insane. Awesome. Love those crazy boys!!
@reecardoraul@Mary Gonsalves I can only imagine how loud the crowd was in person. I've got tickets for the Canucks game.
That was an amazing end to a game, I missed the first two periods, glad I got to see the ending though. It's great to get points over Nashville. We need to grab as much from the Central Division as we can. Also the Preds just made an awesome trade for Hal Gill from Montreal. Glad he wasn't in their line-up tonight. I was actually hoping Gill would be wearing a Wings sweater come this time but Oh well.
I hate the Pens as much as the next guy but it's difficult to just dismiss Malkin. That guy is dominant right now. Still should have been tossed for that instigator. Oh well. He's overshadowing Pav for the Hart, which is a shame. He deserves more than some Lady Byngs and Selkes for his talent.
I haven't been this excited since the playoffs, and I'm feeling each game like they are playoff games (I had to leave work early and go to a bar that had the NHL Network for this game). Still, while this is a great team we need a better 5/6 Dman or bottom 6 fwd, 2002 team would probably beat this year.
He made that pass while laying down pretty close to where I was and got the goal almost exactly where I was !! It was so fucking incredible I've been blessed to be at these games with glass seats. And I hope we start seeing this hudler hank and pavel line cause they were so great. Their 1st shit pavel almost had a goal of that great zetterberg pass. Had it not be rinne he'd of had 2 goals (pavel). What an amazing game though
Joey Mac is the man. No doubt about it. He has played like he is playing for a chance at the number 2 spot and he has exceeded expectations. I feel real good about heading into the playoffs with Jimmy and Joey between the pipes. What a relief not having to make a last minute goalie transaction before the trade deadline too!
@Instinctz I agree. Joey was really on his game tonight. I was so excited to see him get the 1st Star of the Game. The crowd chanting his name was deafening & gave me goosebumps. I'm so glad I was there to see it!
@Instinctz He sure was. As much as I like conks, Joey should be our backup. I don't worry when he's in net, and the team seems to play better in front of him than in front of Ty. Can't argue with his 5-1-1 either!
