It's 10:15 AM and so far no movement on the front lines. And we have a quote from Kulfan saying:
If fans expect the Wings to do something BIG today....well, you'll be disappointed. Minor, if anything. And if nothing else happens, that's fine. Right now I'd put a healthy Detroit against any team in the league for a seven game series. I think the fact that they were first in the NHL when they were last fully healthy should prove that.
Hit the jump for the "but":
Yet, as the Chief at puts it so eloquently:
You must get us a scorer. Not a fourth-line depth guy. Not a professional penalty killer. A scorer with a dagger. And, while these are only wishes—not demands, it’s going to be very, very hard to understand if Chicago or San Jose land one and we don’t. That will be a tough pill to swallow Tick Tock. That’s not a threat. Just a statement of fact. If either of those two teams dramatically improve while we “get Dats back in two weeks..that’s our deadline move”. That’s just gross. These are exactly my sentiments. If nothing happens with us or our enemies, great. Chicago is 4 and 14 or something in their recent games. San Jose is 3-6-1 in their last ten and only 3 points out of 9th place. Vancouver is good, but they still are Vancouver and beatable when it comes down to it.
But if any of these teams get a Rick Nash and Detroit stays put, that's what could put us in trouble. So that's why I hope KH is keeping his head up and going for broke. We've still got a perfect human on the blueline. Let's take advantage of that while we can.
i wont be concerned if no move is made at all. this team is solid. im not worried about san jose or chicago because i quite honestly think we would wax them both in a playoff series. we owe san jose and chicago cant defend worth a hill of beans.
a fully healthy red wing squad playing at their best will win the cup this year.
