19 straight wins at home after a 2-1 SO victory. I told you, you don't disrespect the number 19 in Detroit. You just don't.

Recap after the jump:
Post, post, post. Detroit got out shot in this game, but they did have plenty of great chances. Yes, the PP is bad, but they are getting chances. Once they start burying those chances, the PP will go from terrible to bad. I guess that's something.

Pavel was snake bit again, but got a good bounce during the shootout, so hopefully that trend is a thing of the past. Speaking of shootouts, Bert is my favorite shooter. I think Pavel is more fun to watch, but somehow I always find myself saying, "What the heck are you doing?" as Bert skates in, then laughing as I cheer when he scores.

Abdelkader with the goal tonight, no matter how much NHL Network wants to ignore the obvious. He also might have gotten a piece of Kindl's first point shot off the post. High stick? Probably. But it shows how versatile Abby can be. He can kill penalties, take faceoffs, fight, be a net-front-presence and hit. Keep him.

That 3 on 3 in OT was crazy. A rested, non-snake bit Pavel would have been money right there.

NOHS Three Stars of the Game:

First Star: Joey MacDonald. If he gets sent down to Grand Rapids after Howard comes back, I'll be as shocked as you and Conklin.

Second Star: Abby, with his deflection goal in the first period.

Third Star: Todd Bertuzzi, but only because of his shootout goal. The rest of the game he was really bad.

NOHS Favorite Moment of the Game: When Dan O'Halloran, of all refs, called goalie interference, of all calls, in favor of Holmstrom, of all people, from center ice, of all places, nullifying a goal, of all things. It was a strange night, folks.

Next game is Sunday night against the Flyers. Puck drops at 7:30 EST. It'll be a good night to get a few guys back on scoring streaks.

I was at the game, Detroit slept thru regulation but woke up in OT...the place was going crazy for OT and the shootout.

Joey was great. So was Zetterberg. So was Miller.
And I love Tuzzi.

I think the best moment did have to do with the Homer drawn penalty on goalie interference. Carlyle was mad about the call and called back goal. Then they cut to him watching it on the big screen. He nods his head in agreement and shrugs. Eat it, dbag.

@ThroatShot Aherm...Boudreau. Not that it matters. But yes, that was also a great moment. Like "Yeah, well, okay." Then he reached behind him into a bucket of chicken.

@brendanksullivan Sorry, force of habit. In one year alone, Boudreau has managed to coach two of the most underachieving teams of all time.

Also, in regards to the 3 stars of the game as per Detroit Media, I had this to say (this on the A2Y LB):Joey with an absolutely amazing game. Second star only because we know we can't afford to let Durdy Bert get into one of those "I seemed to have misplaced my confidence, my ski mask, and my piano wire" kind of moods.

This was the night in which bad bounces were going to end the streaks. The Hockey Gods were not in favour of us most of the game, but Joey won their favour. Thank Bog!

And the PP is improving, but in OT it looked like they lacked desperation. Still, 19 is 19 is 19.
