Wings In Seven

I still believe.
Now that we’ve had our fun in Twig’s recap/bitchfest, I need to say, at least for a few days, STFU.
Because I still believe.
Nashville sucks. I’ve seen nothing from Nashville that makes me impressed with them as a team. This isn’t a Stanley Cup contender that we’re losing to. This is a solid, if unimpressive team with two star players, one of which in particular is killing us.
But, as one reader said in the bitchfest, the only team that can beat Detroit is: Detroit. It’s Detroit that isn’t roofing the puck when we have an open net. It’s Detroit that isn’t bearing down on loose pucks. It’s Detroit that isn’t making life complete hell for Rinne. And it’s Detroit that is making almost career ending mistakes.
This team is great. They just have to remember that. And we can’t forget that. Stop looking to next year, this season isn’t over.
I believe. Wings in 7. LGRW.
Nannerpuss for luck.
Follow us on Facebook.
So the consensus seems ‘round the blogs seems to be Detroit is actually better than Nashville just they don’t happen to care about winning playoff games as much as Nashville…is this right?
@tnzetasigep No no no... We are using a hybrid blame this season of "puck luck" (see 2010) and super human goalie ( see 2006 and 2007) you should know the only thing that can beat the wings are superstitions and flash in the pan net minders...
Nothing is over until we decide it is. This could be the greatest playoffs of our lives but you're going to let it be the worst. Not me! I'm not gunna take this! Weber, he's a dead man!
Lets do it!!!!!
Definitely Wings in 7. You've taken a team who has peeformed better throughout the series and put their back against the wall. Its about to get ugly... for Nashville that is.
Maybe the wings should play Army of the Pharaohs or Jedi Mind Tricks to get riled up before games. Some hardcore murder music would amp people up for games........ just a thought :P
Good choices. I think I would go with IN FLAMES. Hell, most of the Wings are Swedes anyhow.
Nannerpuss is some pretty powerful mojo... But I think we need to double it up an include some Larry Murphy approved OCTODOG!
I don't know if this is public knowledge or not yet and I don't want to give Nashville any bulletin board material, but I have on good authority heard that the Wings are so confident in winning Game 5 that they've already booked their tickets back to Detroit for Game 6.
That's confidence.
@DetCapC19 you know they don't live in Nashville right? They were coming back either way. I like the optimism though... wow...smh
Realistically, the Wings very possibly could do this. They had a few streaks of wins in the regular season, and managed to bare down and win the home record. We've shown we can win in their building before, so let's do it again!
Out of three games we have to win, two will be played on 'sand and grave;' rather than ice, with puck jumping as ping-pong ball. We just have to get lucky there.
We basically made 2 glaring errors last night and it ended up in the back of our net. Nashville, while spending at least half the game in their zone, didn't make a lot of mistakes. We need to bury our chances when we get them and hope for a couple of bounces. We need Jimmy to play like he did in Game 2.
Prediction: Winner of Game 5 wins the series. (Yes, that's slightly obvious if Nashville wins, but fuck off).
Genesis: "Misunderstanding." That song always helps me deal with my day after Red Wings blues.
What songs do you guys listen to before or after games to help you get psyched up or deal with a tough loss?
@Buckeye_Wings_Fan i listen to the Offspring specifically Hammerhead and You're gonna go far kid....I like to think of Hammerhead as a sort of playoffs mantra for the Wings...
Any Ac/dc song (thunderstruck, for those about to rock), coldplay (paradise), throw your wings up, don't stop believing, black betty, aerosmith, beastie boys...as you can tell I basically listen to anything depending on my mood. Mostly rock music, it really gets you going for a big game!
For the past few days I have been watching the past championship dvd's like I always do come playoffs time. What I have noticed between this year and all of the others is we don't seem to have a reason to win. There is nothing pushing us to play harder, it's kind of like we already gave up on the season. 97 ended the draught, 98 was for Vladdy, 02 was for Luc and Hasek, even 08 was for TPH and Drake. We always had something to prove. I don't feel like we have anything to prove this season other than we aren't washed up. Nashville has something to prove. Detroit has always been a stepping stone for them and these playoffs really mean something to them. We need a reason to win, we need some emotion and a fire under our asses. We have too many soft spoken lead by example leaders. Yes they are great players, but now we someone like Stevie Y to sit the team down down, talk them up into a frenzy so we can find some emotion in our play.
There have been bits and pieces of emotion over this series. It was nice to see Kronner get a big hit. Franzen is getting angry but his frustration is outweighing focus. Jimmy may have let a bad goal in but he so strong mentally it will not effect him. All we need is one player to hit everything and rile up Nashville. Abby is trying but he can't do it alone.
If the Wings stop over analyzing Rinne they will score. Rinne is in their heads. We need to break him early next game.
Have Faith. Stay Strong. Believe.
So say we all.
@JOHNxJOHN So say we all indeed! This is exactly what I've been feeling as well. We have everyone we need to get the job done, they just need to find that fire.. and find it fast!
We need to score early and often and put Nashville on their heels. We can't let them think they have a chance. We need to force THEM to make mistakes and just play our game.
I want to see Lidstrom rifle a shot from the point. Does anyone else feel like he passes to White and White doesn't pass back as often as Rafalski used to? I feel like White takes a lot of shots away from Lidstrom.
The Wings are in desperation mode down 3-1 in the series. I expect them to play their hearts out and look forward to them coming back like they did last year against SJ.
@Lauren H Scoring early is key. Put the pressure on them and let them make the mistakes. LGRW!
Thats funny, I always re-watch the championship DVD's every playoff season too. Guess I will be having a marathon before Friday's game. Im glad everyone is back on the optimism train again, but honestly Im getting pretty fed up with dedicating day after day of superstitous rituals to help our team out. The Wings need to show me that they care just as much as I do. Give me a reason to believe again, guys. Go Wings, do the improbable.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I'm avoiding most blogs today because the pessimism that I'm anticipating will only make me even more pissed off and angry. This isn't over yet and not once have I said "Nashville is just too good" or anything of the like. They're a good team, but they're not great and I haven't seen anything from them that I don't know we can beat. They need a fire under their ass. Lidstrom's calm confident leadership is essential, but the team also needs a firey Draper in the room to kick butts and take names and get them riled up. Where's the anger I saw in game 2? can we put posters up all around the dressing room of Weber smashing Z's head as a reminder? I'm not giving up either. LGRW!
If I was the boys around the net, I'd grab a stick with a curve to lift that puck right up and over Rinne. DO IT TO IT BOYS! LGRW!
