Red Wings Recap: 4.15.2012
Written by Ryan on .

Detroit loses 3-2 and once again they get no breaks.
Recap:
I hope Mike Babcock rips the officiating again. Insult their inconsistency, mock their favoritism and make fun of their families. This league is a joke. You all do realize that each game is rigged, right? And that anytime a team rises above that rigging to win, it's unbelievable. Nashville is playing under a different set of rules than Detroit. That's just the way it is. So they'll have to find a way around that. We can't push guys from behind. They can cross-check. We can't lift a stick. They can tackle. Still, despite all of that, Detroit had a chance in both losses. Amazing.
00.0. I have not looked myself because it will make me mad, but I hear the penalty was called at 11.8, but an extra second ticked off the clock. That's nice.
Kronwall has not Kronwalled anyone yet.
I like our PP and our PK. Nashville finally scored on the PP, but it took Pavel not having a stick and Stuart getting pushed into Howard.
Fans at the Joe, you have GOT to be more vile. Be evil. Make the refs afraid to call penalties against Detroit. Nashville fans boo offsides calls like it's a 5 minute boarding call and they get all kinds of favors. The "Bull @#$%!" chant needs to be loud and proud. Class on our part has us down in the series, 2-1.
Overall, I'm bummed about the slow start, bummed about the final result and homicidal about the bad breaks, but Detroit is very much in this series. This is just like San Jose last year. Luck and refs can only take you so far. At some point, bounces switch sides and refs can only do so much. We just have to keep the series close enough to strike when that happens.
Yeah there was a decent amount of bullshit, but I loved how Detroit had Nashville pinned in their zone for a good section of the third. I just kept thinking, "And they aren't on the powerplay!" Nashville was happy enough to just leave Rinne out to dry to save their bacon and he got lucky this time. One thing I did notice was that after they got going, and started connecting, they weren't quite lined up right. There were tons of open nets on Rinne, but just couldn't quite cover the spot needed to bang it in, or Nashville was too much of a pest on the D. Overall I was impressed, but not impressed with how late we got started, which has been mentioned. I have a good feeling that if Detroit would've playedl like they did the second half, all the way through, score would've been much different. Keep skating guys, you have the potential to put these guys out.
The fact of the matter is that even if the officiating and bounces were swinging in Detroit's favor the w's aren't even guaranteed until they show that they can play a full 60 minutes of Red Wings hockey. They have yet to kick it into that extra playoff gear that we know they're capable of reaching. They need to get their shit together quick
"The New York Rangers accept the NHL's three-game suspension of Carl Hagelin and will not pursue an appeal. However, we are thoroughly perplexed in the ruling's inconsistency with other supplementary discipline decisions that have been made throughout this season and during the playoffs. We will have no further comment on this decision."
Ladies and Gentlemen, I do believe that is another team calling out the NHL and Shanna-inconsistent-hammer.
@ThroatShot The sad thing is that the hit by Hagelin on Alfie wasn't nearly as bad as the move by Weber on Z...but Alfie left the game and didn't return. I also listened to Shanahan in his video which said Hagelin had never been fined or w/e in his year in the league. Wasn't Weber fined in the regular season this year for some hit? Based on the three game suspension of Hagelin, Weber should have gotten 3+ for the blatant attempt to injure. Initially I was thinking 1-2 would suffice.
Think Shanny has a magic 8 ball that he just shakes up and sees what kind of suspension or fine he should dish out? I could picture him doing that, while little Gary watches him and rubs his hands together all mischieviously....
More booing and less Let's Go Red Wings chants... They need to know that we think they're playing like shit. Cause they are playing horribly...
We were trying to get the BULLS--T chant louder in the upper bowl, but too many fans trying to be classy and weren't going along with it. I love being classy, but playoffs is about emotion, and when hillbillies in nashville show us up then thats unacceptable. We died off really quick after a few minutes of back and forth hockey, then would get louder after killing off a penalty, too much inconsistency. Hockeytown's gotta get LOUD for Game 4 and light a fire under ass of our boys!!
"Nashville is playing under a different set of rules than Detroit." Well, yeah, and it's been obvious since the travesty of a wrist slap POS Weber got for deliberately slamming an opposing player's head into the glass. I mean, I know hockey's a rough sport, but it's not supposed to be fucking Rollerball. Can you imagine Bertuzzi doing that to someone and escaping a suspension? Me neither.
At this point the only stuff Nashville gets called on is whatever's so blatant the officials couldn't just let it slide. I was shocked beyond belief that they actually got together and called the Preds for a bench minor when the guy held Franzen's sweater. Of course, they had to send the Mule to the box as well for doing nothing more than trying to get free.
What the hell did Mike Ilitch ever do to Gary Bettman? Did he piss in the guy's little dwarf bowl of Corn Flakes? My goodness.
I really miss Scotty Bowman and his gritty coaching approach. I don't know if Bab's (nice Canadian )demeanor is going to cut it for playoff hockey.Detroit as a whole need take offence to how we are being bullied. Everyone knows ESPN,NBC and the NHL want the weakest team from the West to face the all mighty East .
@Killerpack70 I think babs has more than proved he's a good enough coach. He has the guts to rip the refs and the league without being dumb enough to say it in a way that'll get him fined. He gets as mad as anyone else at the refs when he's out there and he doesn't let journalists get to him. But I do think detroit need to stand up a bit more yeah.
have to play big and take Game 4. Play against refs, the League and Gary F. Bettman himself
I FEEL LIKE IM IN THE FREAKING TWILIGHT ZONE! You are right on so many levels. 1st of all, where the hell is Kronwall and why isnt he making corpses out there in the neutral zone. 2nd, what the hell did we do to piss off the hockey Gods. No puck luck whatsoever. Unreal...just unreal. Lastly, where the hell is the Detroit Red Wings fans that I used to know. They sit quiet in the stands, waving their complementary red dildos they were provided and do NOTHING to let the refs know that this is FUCKING Detroit and we ARE hockey. Im so sick of this "well our team isnt built this way" bullshit. Then I guess its time to find players who are built that way because the past 3 seasons have made me sick to my stomach. Apparently we lose all guts come playoff time and we feel sorry for ourselves. Ive been watching the Flyers take it to Shitsburgh and you know what the diff is? The Flyers are not afraid to kill em all and keep moving. Where the hell are the Red Wings I used to know and love. Fuck.
@Buckeye_Wings_Fan I wish it would have happened earlier in the series. Actually, I wish in Game 2 we would have started earning penalties. If they are going to call them, we might as well light some dbags up. I found great irony in the "announcers" talking about how Nashville has been the victims of no puck luck in this series citing as their only evidence how Erat hit the post once during Game 2. I challenge them to post-hit counting contest where they count the Preds and I count the Wings!. To make that fair, I'll only count one period and they can count the series. I will still win.
No octopi on the ice? I"m disappointed. Kronwall hasn't Kronwalled anyone because the way the refs are calling "penalties". If he did, I'm sure it'd be something like a 10 minute misconduct or something equally ridiculous.
Unfortunately luck and calls took the sharks past us last year. I agree the calls have been something special, completely ludicrous, but this game rewards effort and what I saw today was not effort. Once again it took being down by two goals for the Wings to actually try, and I don't know what Mule was doing out there but he deserved every one of his penalties. The Quincey call was bs, so were a bucnh of others but that's nothing new. The effort HAS to be there from the START.
Despite all of that it was Rinne that stole this game, just think what a little more effort and brains could have achieved. Come on Wings, you are SO much better than this.
"Nashville is playing under a different set of rules than Detroit." So true. I actually agree with many of the penalty calls against Detroit. Aside from Game 1, I wouldn't even say that too many have really been called against us. It is just that Nashville might as well have no rules. Almost every time one of their players moves near one of ours, there is a ridiculous penalty. We commit a penalty, and we go to the box. They commit a penalty, and nothing happens. They do something outright ludicrous, and the ref says, "Both of ya!' dragging a Wing to the box as well for no reason. If the Detroit capitulated to the league's desire, they would be down 3-0 in the series with 29 (NSH) to 2 (DET) as the series goal totals. The league desperately wants to bury this "old" team in favor of their chosen young teams in weak / small / Southern markets.
I still would love to know what Bertuzzi did to warrant going to the box. Im not the biggest Bert fan, but WTF did he do????
@behood19 Wore red. As I said, I don't disagree with many (not most or all) of the calls against the Wings. That is no different than the rest of the preseason, regular season, or playoffs.
@behood19 I believe in a conspiracy against the Flyers when they have to play the Pens lol.
Yeah, living in Philly I hear a lot about the NHL's conspiracy against the Flyers, so I try not to make excuses when the Wings lose. But damn, that should have been a PP for the boys in red if anything gets called at all. And the Quincey penalty looked a lot worse than it actually was. If both hands arent on the stick, there probably isnt a call there. Oh well, F it. Lets take game 4 in convincing fashion.
