Helm Out For Rest of The Playoffs

G'D' it. Of all the freaking luck in the world. It's at least good to hear that it went well though.
Man I feel bad for him; he looked really good out there for the short time that he was too! I'm happy that the operation went well, but damn. I hope he comes back next year with tendons that have healed super tight like the kid in "Rookie of the Year", and ends up with a 200 mph slapshot. For the record: the term "Funky butt lovin" still cracks me up. Feel better Helm, look forward to seeing you in action next season.
I'm surprised more players don't get cut in random skate incidents. The game is so fast and limbs can sometimes end up in dangerous places.
I know hindsight is 20/20 but I feel like I'm the only who thought he should have sat as we got the news he was going to play in Gm1. Our PK wasn't in dire shape and I just didn't feel he'd be up for playoff intensity quite yet. People playing injured, even when they don't re-aggrevate their injuries, are more likely to get hurt (with a new injury) than those that are closer to or at 100%. I'm not happy he was in and I'm not happy he's out, but like you say, silver lining is that it's not career ending (like Modano...I'm ignoring the fact that Modano was old).
@brendanksullivan Unfortunatly, it was completely a fluke. He was playing great until then.
@moorecha @brendanksullivan Ya I saw the wings lose some jump and couldnt figure out why until someone commenting here said something about Helm. As for him playing before full recovered... I have to say that there was not anything saying he could not have been fully recovered.
All that said I do have to wonder.... The wings are now in a position to find someone that can make up for the loss of helm... in the playoffs.... where Helm became a mainstay.... and now is a huge piece of the team...... If someone like Conner steps up in Helms absence....... the team might just have a scary look in having 2 players that bring the Heart in their play like Helm... I would not be surprised should this wind up happening.
