Well even if you don't...you're going to find out anyway. Rich Chere of the Star-Ledger decided to poll the New Jersey Devils to see who they thought would be coming out of the Western Conference to play in the Stanley Cup Final.
Here's the tallies from the 24 players asked:
St. Louis Blues: 8 votes
Detroit Red Wings: 7 votes
Vancouver Canucks: 6 votes
Chicago Blackhawks: 1
Nashville Predators 1
No pick: 1
Looks like the Devils are drinking the Blue kool-aid.
Make the jump to see who voted for who.
Alexei Ponikarovsky: Red Wings
Zach Parise: Predators
Ilya Kovalchuk: Red Wings
Petr Sykora: Canucks
Adam Henrique: Blues
Ryan Carter: Canucks
Cam Janssen: Blues
Marek Zidlicky: No pick
Eric Boulton: Red Wings
Martin Brodeur: Canucks
Andy Greene: Blues
Adam Larsson: Blackhawks
Travis Zajac: Canucks
Peter Harrold: Blues

Steve Bernier: Blues
Mark Fayne: Red Wings
Bryce Salvador: Blues

Matt Taormina: Red Wings
Zach Parise the only one voting for Nashville...a little forshadowing for the off-season this year? God, I hope not.
Who's this Adam Larsson chump? Never heard of him and already hate him.
Shocking that both of the stupid goalies are picking Luongo to go all the way.
Poor Pacific Division.
What do you guys think...or was this a waste of time?
FYI, this title should be "Polled," not "Poled." That latter would imply having a pole applied to you, unless that is what you were trying to imply.
For me I like it cuz the Devils are my 4th favorite team, I like kovy but I Love Anton Volchenkov, sad to see he said blues but I can see why. They had 2 good games against the blues and none against us, or 1 I'm not sure. But u can't blame em, the goal tendings real good (mostly elliot now) and defense is good too, their deep but do lack offense and haven't been great lately but over all good. No one woulda picked them to be 1st or 2nd in our division, let alone 1st in the league which their still close to that. We need to beat them though or I doubt we get 4th place honestly. That's for posting this though that was cool
Sounds like some of them are drinking something other than koolaid, this wings team is never going to make it out of the first rd. Too wildly inconsistent, and no offensive or real defensive threats. Sorry, I'm facing that fact myself too. Dynasty over
@seidelgr very interesting indeed, regardless who they play @NHLDevils will give everyone a fight to the end #redalert
Since I see these guys play pretty regularly (hey, when you live out of market and have a parent with season tickets to another team, you take advantage of this to see hockey), it's definitely an interesting perspective. I highly doubt they will get very far in the playoffs, but they obviously hold the Central Division in high regard...and definite fear.
Btw, Larsson's a good, young player, a Swede, and wears #5 so you can't hate too much. Someone just needs to take him out back and train him up on his knowledge of respectable NHL teams.
love seeing the players make the picks, they know the teams and players better than anybody and can judge the game that they play. its better than hearing pierre, doc, and olsuck make their BS picks every night on nbc sports
Larsson was the 4th overall pick in last year's draft. Despite his complete lack of NHL knowledge, he's actually pretty solid. 6'3 and RHS. They say he could be a combo of Lidstrom and Pronger. They also said that about Hedman, but apparently they mean it this time.
Jersey is afraid to go to the finals with any of the central division teams, they said these things out of pure fear. Zidlicky being the most scared as he had no pick. It's comforting to know that the Devils like us enough to think we'll go all the way (at least 7 of them, anyway.)
@Bmallen Aren't we like the 6th highest scoring team in the league and boast the most goals from our d-core?
And last I checked, we had Nik Lidstrom. If he's not a "real defensive threat" then I don't want to watch hockey anymore.
I'd also ask Voracek, Heatley, Kesler, Clowe, Havlat, and Hemsky if they think Kronwall is a "threat." I'd be very interested in what they have to say once they're done with the quiet room.
@moorecha Those NJ teams like to be poled.
