Right now, our boys are gearing up and getting their minds ready to take on the Nashville Predators in Game One of the Western Conference Quarter Finals. It was a roller coaster season...with ups and downs and streaks and injuries. It all gets thrown out the window.

The series should have started in Detroit. Nothing we can do about it now except send this series back to the Joe up 2-0 with a bunch of astounded media pundits.

I had a lot of beers to try to numb this pain but I'm not sure it's working...I hope Helm isn't to serious but it doesn't look/sound good :( I hope the refs get their heads out of their asses for game 2 and the rest of the red wings step it up. I have faith and I'll never stop believing until the last buzzer sounds on the last game. hopefully that last game ends with the cup in our hands. 12 in 12 5 for 5! lets get it together!
Wow..This game was pretty much a textbook example of a clusterfuck. Normally, I try to refrain from swearing too much on these posts, but damn near everything about this game got under my skin. The refs should be drawn and quartered, and whatever sliver of respect I had for Nashville is completely obliterated. Shea Weber deserves a method of torture so heinous that it would make the Spanish Inquisition look like afternoon fucking tea.
First: Shanny has got to give Weber at least one game for that blatant attempt to injure Z.
Second: Could Brian Engblom possibly say "up the gut" more times in one game?

P.S. Please let Helm's injury be non-serious and get him back for game 2.

Shanahan's gonna lay down the hammer on that FOR SURE. After the emphasis on head damage all year, a blatant intent to injure like that will be punished - playoffs or not. Someone please get that on YouTube immediately
Now we need to see how helm is and hopefully it is just stitches and he can come back soon. Need to also get conner in as well. We need some heart like helm in this team. Emmerton isnt that.

@drw91 Dude I just hope that after the Modano thing and helm being so important to the team they played on the cautious side. I just want hope because that would be a huge loss.

@Tnhgeno yeah, I've noticed that too. Different set of rules for Nashville. Are you surprised though?
@drw91 @Tnhgeno I usually try and say it was just something missed, but Rinne was so far out of the trapezoid it wasn't close. I am trying to figure out how Bourque's boarding only got 2 minutes. But it comes down to this.. They know they got out played. They know luck got them a win tonight, and luck will not win them the series. You add in that game 2 could begin with two players that had a huge role in game one sitting in the press box, well I am excited for the game.
@drw91 Should have had Goose in for Game 1........ Anyway, I would say there is no way he stays out of the lineup for Game 2.
@NOHS Drew yeah, I hope it's not Modano-2, but I'm afraid so. Could be out for season. If they just would let him come back for Game 2, as planned...
@drw91 @NOHS Drew already said I hoped it isnt like modano.... however on that play you cannot say him waiting wouldve done much .... he is really important for this team. And he has heart so no matter what he is going to be there for the team.
@Matthew_ruta he lost his balance .... I felt it was a good call.... one of the few that were..... but with these calls I am surprised it wasnt more too.

Whew...two beauties from Nashville...at least the refs are calling it right down the middle.
Lions need to sign Mike Fisher. That dude can tackle with the best of 'em. Not only that, but he steals your stick after making a tackle and then lays on it. After all the stupid friggin calls so far, that didn't earn a raised arm?!?
