A well executed 2 on 1 is a deadly play. The Wings didn't get a ton of odd-man rushes last night, but they did well on the ones they got. They also defended them properly and Conklin was where he needed to be. Because of this, our chances resulted in goals while theirs resulted in padding Conklin's stats.

Colorado winger skates along the boards and look to make a pass. That's not going to happen though, because White and Pavel have completely taken away that option. All Conklin has to do is square up to the shooter and make a save.

Which he does. While Jones is in a great scoring position, there's no way the puck gets past White and even if it does, Pavel has his stick. The best option is to shoot and hope for a rebound.

Though this is a 3 on 2, a pass to Cleary won't happen, so it's basically a 2 on 1. Hank just gave the puck to Pav. The Avalanche defender now turns his attention to Datsyuk and ignores Hank. He doesn't take away the pass and what's worse (better for us), Varlamov has squared up to Pavel and totally ignored Hank.

Pavel makes the perfect pass. The Colorado defender can only hope to get his stick in the way to deflect the shot away and Varlamov is caught trying to make a desperation save. 2-0, Good Guys.

Good start so far.
