Post Game Thoughts vs the Wild

The Wings deserved better. The Wild deserved less.
Howard was awesome.
Referee Dave Jackson wears #8. I wear #8. To see a guy be such a tool with my number on his back just makes me want to need a new TV on Black Friday. But I'm good. I'm good.

The Red Wings played some great defense and their PK was awesome. We deserved better that this.
On that note, games like this are a bit easier to take when you're not on a 4 game losing streak. Our desperate need for a win made it worse.
I really wish the crowd had made the refs afraid. Not like they would be afraid of getting physically hurt, but think about Ford Field when it's at its loudest. The Joe could have easily gotten the Wings a PP or two or an even up call, but they just took it. Not until the very end did they let loose. Too late.
We deserved better. The Wild deserved less.
I was also at the game. The crowd was pretty into it, letting the zebras know what they thought, but I was really hoping that the Bullshit! Bullshit! chant would get going.
Also, did you see the guy on the glass (near the Zamboni end) in the Lids Swedish Olympic sweater? He was really letting the ref have it. Flipping him off constantly & yelling. It was awesome. The zebra just kept looking at him like "What?"
Defence and Goaltending is solid. The offence will come eventualy - too much talent.
Much better to have this problem than the other way around (all offence, no D) like the last couple of years.
I'd like to see him split up Pav and Z next game to spread out the offence (not that Pav and Z are lighting it up right now) but that 2nd line is doing nothing and I liked the chemistry our top 3 lines had to start the year.
But they need to score some goals. We have to strong a team with way too much talent to score one goal.
I was at the game, and the crowd did voice their opinions when necessary. It just wasn't a big crowd because it was a week night..
@Reddy@Jaclyn On paper it may have been a sell out, but having been at the game, I would say they were somewhere around 70-85% occupancy. I was with three other people and was scanning (we were in the cheap seats) all night and we could have easily moved to just about any section.
I've often wondered who is buying all these tickets and not going to the games...
@moorecha@D.M.N@Reddy@Jaclyn I knew about season ticket holders, but I didn't think about promotional tickets. As for the occupancy percentages I provided, I was basing them mainly by what I saw in the later portions of the second period and middle of the third period when most people have arrived and are in their seats. I do agree that getting an accurate attendance reading is damn near impossible with people constantly in flux.
For a weekday game there was a surprisingly large amount of children at this game and it was pretty loud for a non playoff game IMO.

Also, simply being stuck in bathroom/concession lines at the Joe is more of a problem there than anywhere else.
@thebiglachovsky @Reddy @Jaclyn season ticket holders and promotional tickets are counted in attendance even if they aren't redeemed at said game.

I was at the game and the crowd was very into the game and booed every terrible call made, not really much we could do. I'm not sure if you guys saw it at the end of the game, but the refs were booed off the ice and a lot of debris was being thrown on the ice. I've been to about 15-20 games and have never seen anything other than an octopus thrown on the ice.
As for this team, I'm really at a loss for words. How this team can be so solid the first five games and completely fall apart after having five days off is beyond reason. One thing is for certain you don't win hockey games by scoring one goal. The top lines have to get rolling. Stop getting cute and shoot the damn puck.
@thebiglachovsky didn't mean to make it sound like you folks were sitting on your hands with your mouths taped shut, just that i've heard the Joe become a scary place when things don't go well. i was hoping for the "bull shit, bull shit!" chant that drowns out the ref trying to explain a called back goal.
and i'm glad the refs got booed off the ice. not a fan of people throwing stuff on the ice, but in this case, i'm not mad about it.
@Twig , no worries my post was to mainly point out people were tossing things on the ice after the game. I didn't see Howard skate out for the star of the game, so I assumed they didn't show it on TV due to the trash being thrown. Usually it's a classless act that is reserved for arenas outside Michigan, however in this instance I can't say I didn't blame anyone who threw something.
@thebiglachovsky Howard didn't go out for the 3 stars of the game? probably too busy breaking his stick into a bazillion pieces. God I love that goalie.
Slumps happen. When they weren’t on the PK, they absolutely dominated the game. And Howard was great, again. So was the PK. That's the good part of this game. The bad was the rest of the game.
The ugly was the refs. The true randomness displayed in judgment and the complete control taken over of the game ruined the entire night. Bull.
to say this game was "controversial" would be saying that both sides have a point and it is what it is. this was robbery.
the scoring won't get going if we get called for goalie interference 3 times a game. anytime the wings got pressure, a red wing was headed to the box for something dumb.
they'll be fine on thursday, but it's going to be a rough 48 hours. not happy at all.
