Gary Bettman loves him some Penguins. Not a big deal, it's not like its the Winter Classic or All-Star game, although they do make mention of that as well. It's the claim made in the article posted on Planet Sports that got me a littel peaved.

"Arguably, no NHL franchise has been more positively impacted by the draft than the Pittsburgh Penguins."
You want an argument? Ok. Just because you have drafted Mario Lemiuex, Jaromir Jagr, Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby in the 44 years of your existence does not make you the king of the draft. These guys were handed to you on a platter with the top picks.
In the same time frame for the Wings you get Steve Yzerman, Nick Lidstrom, Sergei Fedorov, Slava Kozlov, Tomas Holmstrom, Pavel Datsyuk, and Henrik Zetterberg. Not to mention 4 Stanley cups and 5 presidents trophies. I'd say that Detroit has had some nice draft day positives.
Pitts has abused the integrity of the draft. It has deliberately finished low, strategically collapsing at opportune times to collect high picks. Building a stanley cup winner that way is totally dishonest and cheats every hockey fan on the other 29 times. A better system would be a no-handicap lottery for the ten teams finishing lowest. followed by the next ten teams, followed by the top ten teams.
I was wondering if you looked for the creepiest picture of Bettman, but then I realized - every picture of Bettman is the creepiest picture of Bettman. Which both makes sense and no sense at the same time. I'm just waiting for someone to feed him after midnight, so he can turn into the Gremlin I know he is.
Yeah, it took the Pens years of sucking to get their draft picks.
2003 1st: Fleury
2004 2nd: Malkin
2005 1st: Crosby
2006 2nd: Staal
But let's not forget Yzerman was a 4th overall pick.
The best part about that article is when they discuss the All-Star game, how it should be played in Pittsburgh as well and how the penguins local television ratings are the best in the US @moorecha
I'd say that the Wings picks had the same kind of positive impact @moorecha
