Are We In The Clear?

So are we out of it?  Is the great goal famine of 2011 over?   Was playing against Corey Perry’s ugly face the cure?

Or, as Puck Daddy claims, are the Red Wings really as bad as their six game losing streak appeared to make it seem?

Everyone noticed when the Wings lost six tough games in a row.  But no one seems to remember that the Wings started as the #1 team in the NHL with a five game winning streak.  Click the jump for more.

A bad team doesn’t win five in a row.  And a bad team doesn’t have Nick Lidstrom leading their team on the blueline and the best forward in the league with his sneakly little smile.

I think today’s game against the Avalanche will decide that question, but I’m thinking that things are going to continue going in the right direction.  Sometimes you just need to remember how it feels to put the puck behind the tender.  The Wings did it FIVE times against the Ducks.   There’s no reason they can’t do it again against a cooling-off Varlamov.

I expect to see a winning streak in the future for the Wings.  They know how much it sucks to lose now, and they certainly don’t want that again.

Im glad this happened early in the season. We can look at it as tempering. The reality that every shift counts, to build momentum and establish a consistent level of play that is REDWING HOCKEY! It wont kill a team to lose 6 in a row at this stage, so hopefully lessons have been learned and a stronger team will emerge from this. Prayer, Patience, Perseverence = BELIEVE!

I was wondering when a rebuttal to that Puck Daddy article was coming. I think my favorite reason in that list was that Ian White is not Brian Rafalski. As far as I can tell, White has been pretty damn effective with Nick so far, they're meshing fairly well for thus early in the season. I've been waiting to gripe about this.
As long as we come out and decide to play for 60 minutes tonight, we'll win. LGRW

I hope you're right, but I'm still not optimistic this team has it together just yet. Moslty because I still haven't watched Saturday's game. Watching tonight though, an odd night not-on-the-road for me.

Go Wings!

Agreed. I wouldn't be angry if we lost tonight.... as long as that fire is there and they play a full game. However, with that said, if we play a full game.. the Avs are gonna be toast. They WONT win tonight if we play our game and let it all hang out for the full 60.
