Detroit Looking to Host Winter Classic and In Turn, 24/7. Interested?

The Wings sent Tom Wilson to the BOG meeting this weekend to understand and look into having Detroit host the Winter Classic in the future.  Per the Free Press:

The Red Wings may pursue an outdoor game at Comerica Park in the future.

Tom Wilson, president and CEO of Olympia Entertainment, attended the NHL Board of Governors meetings today as part of the NHL All-Star Game festivities. He said there was plenty of positive feedback over the recent outdoor Winter Classic in Pittsburgh that the Capitals won over the Penguins, including the “24/7” reality show on HBO that peeled the curtain back on life in pro hockey as a lead-in to the event.

Wilson said he would go back “and have conversations” with general manager Ken Holland and owner Mike Ilitch on whether the Wings would consider hosting an outdoor game in the future and if they’d be receptive to being involved in something like the HBO reality show.

I'll admit, I'd love to see the usually reserved Wings team out for everyone to see.  How does Bertuzzi fit in? Is Osgood ever serious?  Do they only let Helm out of his cage for games during the playoffs (I'm convinced)?

This could also lead to some name recognition for the Wings superstars that don't get enough at the moment.

I love it.
