So, a plea to all Red Wings fans living in the Valley:
If you must go to the games in Arizona, please wear white. We don't want outsiders thinking we can't sell out playoff games. After all we've been through - from bankruptcy hearings to relocation threats - the last thing we need is more national embarrassment. They want you to ignore the fact that this isn't a regular season game, that this is war. That Shane Doan would steal food from a starving child's mouth if he was from Michigan. That Keith Yandle drives a Toyota and hates the Great Lakes. That Gary Bettman personally pays each player on the Yotes.
If you're a Detroit fan who otherwise cheers for the Coyotes, understand what this does to your second-favorite hockey team, and how deflating it must be to take the ice for a playoff game and hear:
"Let's go Red Wings!"Oh we do. And that's exactly what they're gunna hear tonight.
Wow...that would be funny if it weren't so pathetic...Those people in Phoenix simply don't understand, and they never will...I know every team says they have the best fans, but I really think Detroit has them all beat. Being an Original 6 team, Detroit has had many, many years to cultivate their fanbase and their reputation. This is the playoffs- a time of year when the gloves come off and the fans get rabid. Tell us we can't throw an octopus, f#$k you! Ask us to wear white jerseys instead of red, f#$k you! The true Red Wings fan is stubborn and uncompromising when it comes to their team.
if i hear 'todd bertuzzi' chanted in arizona, that team is finished. it will be moved. that will be the sign.
