So the old guy we got for the playoff run is a healthy scratch tonight. He's taking it pretty well though:
“It’s tough,” he said. “I just need to continue to do what I’m doing and you wait for the call, and then hopefully you take advantage of it.”
“I totally understand it,” Modano said. “It’s up to me if I get the opportunity to just give him a reason not to take me back out.”I'm not sure what I think about it right now, but I won't be questioning Babcock yet. We'll see how the night goes. Here's the lineup for game one.

I probably say this too often, but Babcock is a genius (its easy to say this after the fact, of course). He basically put in the young legs, grinders, etc. Knowing Phoenix can be a somewhat physical team, I think he was smart in putting in Abby. Hudler scored, putting him in seems to be a pretty good move/guess. Luckily, we won and now Mikey Mo seems like he is really ready to prove that he belongs in the lineup. Motivated players are good to have in the playoffs, no? Babs = genius.
P.S. Post-game Babcock said it was the first time since he took over in Detroit that they have had a playoff fight. Keep it real Bert, don't let 'em f*ck with you.
slemon - I agree with you on both Salei and the Modano decision.
I do think that it's going to be huge to have Kronwall back in the line up. I like our chances on the PP with Kronner at the point instead of Kindl.
Any thoughts on who takes player of the game? I am guessing 1st-3rd goes like this: Cleary, Rafalski, Howard.
@EEP I've got #1 Filppula, #2 Howard, and Lidstrom (because he's Lidstrom).
Filppula you ask? Yes, it's time.
just glad to see abby in the lineup this time. remember last year? we were getting destroyed until abby replaced williams and started hitting everything that moved.
Wow, Hudler over Modano - I don't know how I feel about that. Modano has the possibility of going on a playoff goal scoring run, not sure Huds does.
Also thought it was interesting that Salei beat out Kindl for the last D spot. I have been doggin Kindl all year, but I thought the last few games he looked better than Salei out there....
