Wings Pulling a New Jersey - Likely Skating With 17 Tonight

Thanks to Gary's capped NHL, in tonight's game against the Phoenix puppy dogs the Wings will be dressing 17 skaters. Franzen is out, probably till Thursday, but the good news is that it was not a significant concussion (or even any?).

When will Abby be back? Khan says probably next game as well (Thursday). But Abby thinks possibly tonight.

Babcock said forward Justin Abdelkader (ribs) will not play. Abdelkader, however, said he will talk to the trainers and was hoping to take part in the pregame warmups and possibly get in the lineup. That seems unlikely, though, and Babcock is planning on using 11 forwards.

"I feel pretty good,'' Abdelkader said. "Maybe even take warm-ups. (His status) is still up in the air. Coach said no, so I don't know.''

That sign of relief you hear is Otto after hearing that the Wings will be starting Howard in net tonight. Here are the rest of the lines:
