Time to Relax, Rest, Rejuvenate - For Draper, Get Surgery.
So we have four days between games and we already need the rest. Khan provided us today with a quick update on the status of each injured Wing:
- Franzen should be back Thursday. Good to hear.
- Abdelkader should be back Thursday, however, Babcock doesn't seem to interested in throwing him out there and breaking up the fourth line. I wouldn't mind seeing him for a game rather than Miller. Not to say Miller hasn't played well, but Abby adds a dimension to the Wings game that Miller does not.
- Ericsson hasn't skated yet and doesn't know when he will return. Back injuries are a bitch.
- Rafalski is hoping that he can return in two weeks. The Wings miss him more than I thought they would. His vision is consistently underrated by everyone other than his paycheck.
The news on Draper isn't good.
Draper tried skating on Monday, after taking a few days off following a setback last week, but couldn't finish practice.
“Not good,'' Draper said. “I just went for a little twirl yesterday, felt all right. Then went at it today and felt pretty good and just tried to explode and take a couple of faster strides. That’s where I really felt it. Got off the ice.’’
If nothing is better after a few weeks, then it probably isn't getting better on its own. He'll likely be getting surgery and is seeing a sports hernia surgeon this week.
