Of course I got all excited when the Wings actually made a roster move today (waiving an AHL player). But it's been slow going ever since. With a little over 24 hours to go until Trade Deadline Part Deux comes to an end...it isn't likely that Detroit will make another move unless they ship out Meech or Lebda for a draft pick...like a 5 rounder or something.
But, there is something that should make you happy if you happened to look at the Kick 'Em When They're Down post earlier today and see how much sh*t the Avs fans were talking before last night's game...a healthy Detroit roster is a dangerous foe. Just ask Brian Yip, via the denverpost.com:
Avalanche winger Brandon Yip didn't participate in practice today at Family Sports Center after suffering shoulder injury in the third period of Colorado's 3-2 loss to Detroit on Monday night.
Colorado coach Joe Sacco said after practice that he didn't yet know the seriousness of Yip's injury. But he confirmed Yip wouldn't be on the team's afternoon flight to Anaheim.
Not only had it been a while since the Red Wings won back-to-back games (if you even want to call that with the Olympic Break in between), but it had been a while since we've gotten players back into the lineup with losing at least one more. And no, Mr. Petrella, I'm not forgetting about poor Kirk. I'm saying that most times when we get someone back, someone else gets hurt in that very same game. It didn't happen last night, and in fact, we actually hurt someone. We hurt them in the standings and we hurt them on the ice. Detroit is officially dangerous once more.
Thank.God.
