About N.O.H.S.

The Nightmare on Helm Street is an unofficial blog overwhelmingly dedicated to the Detroit Red Wings and the destruction of their enemies. Drew started a non-partisan blog in 2008 which failed miserably and he eventually created N.O.H.S. on the scorched Earth thereafter in July 2009. Chris was added as an author three months later. Both are washed up college hockey players, except Chris is a stupid goalie.

From the Detroit News...

"I wouldn't mind feeling a bit more tension and anxiety in this room. These guys think they are in. You talk to them and they just believe they're getting in, and I think that's great. But you and I both know the only way we're getting in is if we start playing better.  And I'm not just talking about playing better for a period or for a few minutes. I'm talking for 60 minutes. We need to put a run together. Are we capable? Yes. But the intensity level and how hard we play has to pick up."--Mike Babcock

Oh and Mike doesn't agree with Mickey Redmond in terms of how many games you have to win out of every five:

"I said we have to win four out of every five the rest of the way.  Since we lost, now we have to run the table and win the next four."

That's a tall order, coach.  I'm fairly certain that winning 13 out of the final 16 games would get us into the post-season...but is that an attainable goal?

Aim high, I guess.

Babs is aimin for the 100 pt mark eh? I like it. I just wish we would have seen more of this type of talk a month or two ago. Back when there was time. Seems then everything was about "pucks aren't bouncing our way" or "we need to be better, we're working on clicking." I much prefer the "sack up, animals. Time to rock and roll" approach he's taken since after the Olympic break.

Perhaps he was a bit distracted with something before...

I think there was only so much they could do given their injuries though.

Also, I was doing the math in my head the other day - how many more wins do you think we would have had with just having Franzen in the line up?

I figue at least 5 of those 12 OT/SO losses and maybe another 5 in regulation where we controlled the game, just couldn't put the final dagger.

That's 15 points. We'd be 3rd in the conference and right up little brother's ass (yes, I know how that sounds).

Sure, we would be a lot better off with the Mule in the lineup all season. But if we miss the playoffs, I don't think there's any excuse. Even with our injuries, do you really think we weren't as talented as the Phoenix Coyotes? Or the Nashville Predators? Our best players didn't play their best, which ends up being kind of a coaching issue. I'm withholding judgment on Babs until we know for sure - but to me it all lies at his feet. He gets all the glory for a playoff berth, or all the blame for ending an 18 year reign.

The only time the Wings won four games in a row this season, they lost the next three. It's a nice, lofty goal, but excuse me while I continue to have heart attacks over their play.
