...Like I needed to tell you guys that. Everyone knows that the Detroit Red Wings are in a class of their own. Remember last season when the Wings spent a few days in Kelowna? I do..because I posted this:
...that's the amount of food that the folks out in Kelowna donated at the first open practice that the Red Wings held at Prospera Place, according to detroitredwings.com.
Admission was by donation to the Kelowna Community Food Bank and fans came through with a massive donation, dropping off 11,200 pounds of food valued at over $25,000. There was an additional $1,500 in cash donations accepted by the food bank.
Well, it's several months later and the little town in Brittish Columbia is still talking about the magical few hours that they got to spend with the Red Wings.
"The Red Wings came to Kelowna on their own and that really speaks to the quality of our city."--Jim Gabriel, Recreation and Cultural Services Director from castanet.net (today).
Think anyone will ever say that about the Blackhawks? Yeah, me either.
