Chelios Officially Retires
From DetroitRedWings.com:
"I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of this game at the highest level for a long time. I met a lot of great people and developed some special relationships along the way. The three championship teams I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of have truly been the highlights of my career. I’m excited for this next challenge to begin and I’m also thankful the Wings have extended this opportunity for me to continue to be close to the game.”--Chris Chelios

Chelios new official position with the Red Wings has been deemed "Advisor to Hockey Operations". He's going to work closely with the front office and coaching staffs. Aside from providing insight gained through 26 years of NHL experience and playing mentor to Detroit's youth on defense, he will also assist on the business operations side of the team, and trying to learn the ropes in that aspect. He will also be appearing at games and other functions to interact with fans and potential business partners.
Chelli will still be residing in the Detroit area with his wife and two daughters. In previous talks, Chelios also expressed a great desire to watch his two sons - both playing on MSU's varsity team this season - in action.
