So we managed to pull that one off last night and are now only one win away from moving on to the next round. But let me say this up front: that was a horrible game last night...50 minutes of it anyway.
Jimmy made some key stops and he is the reason that we won last night. Phoenix's only goal was scored because Lidstrom was out of position and we got trapped out on the ice. That seemed to happen a lot last night. For 50 minutes, Detroit seemed to play like it was just another regular season game in the desert. And I just couldn't figure out why.
I mean...it was Game 5 of a 2-2 series, where was the urgency? Where was the fire? Why did you wait until halfway through the third to show up? Yes, I'm happy that we won, but we can't keep playing with such disjointed effort if we have a hope in hell to make it through the next rounds.
Let's just hope that the Red Wings bring the same effort that did at Joe Louis for Game 6 as they did for Game 4. If they play like they did in Game 4...and the final 10 minutes of Game 5, then this series will be over.
Skate to throat now, boys. We have our blade right on their throat, it's time to press down...hard.
