Kinda feels like Florida weather in Michigan today, so why not see what the sunshine state thinks of our game against the BJ's tonight?
From the Miami Herald...
The Red Wings are 2-0-1 versus the Blue Jackets this season and have won eight of the last 12 meetings, including five of the last six played at Detroit. The Blue Jackets did earn a victory in the last meeting on Dec. 28 behind a 34- save shutout by Steve Mason.
Jimmy Howard made 39 saves for the Red Wings in that one and has a 0.98 goals- against average and .968 save percentage in the three games versus Columbus this season.
Basically, Jimmy owns Columbus. And last year, Ozzie owned Columbus in the play-offs. So really, WE own Columbus.
Though Mason did post a shutout over the Red Wings in the teams' last meeting, he was also rocked for eight goals on 27 shots in a 9-1 home defeat versus the Red Wings on Nov. 11. Mason is just 20-23-8 with a 3.13 GAA and .898 save percentage in 54 games this season after winning the Calder Trophy as the NHL's top rookie last year.
So maybe we give the Rookie of the Year award to Tuuka Rask, eh?
