About N.O.H.S.

The Nightmare on Helm Street is a fledgeling blog overwhelmingly dedicated to the Detroit Red Wings and the destruction of their enemies. Drew started a non-partisan blog in 2008 which failed miserably and he eventually created N.O.H.S. on the scorched Earth thereafter in July 2009. Chris was added as an author three months later. Both are washed up college hockey players, except Chris is a stupid goalie.

Bounces going our way?  Goals not getting called off?  Is that what I saw last winged wheelnight?  The Red Wings have hardly ever been lucky.  It isn't luck that makes us draft well.  It isn't luck that brings highly-touted free agents to this organ-i-zation at discounts.  But the way that puck was bouncing last night was some good old fashioned luck of the Irish.  Was Shanny watching over us last night?  Maybe.  But all I can say is that it's about G.D. time that we started getting some good bounces.  A few more like the two goals going off of Trevor Dailey and we might have won a game at home between November 14th and last night.

helm15Oh and a big "thank you" to Marc Crawford for starting our whipping boy, Marty Turco last night.  Just as Manny Legace was the cure for last year's February, so to was Marty this year, only in this woeful November.

And look at who performed last night...goals from Bertuzzi, Miller, Cleary, and of course, The Nightmare himself.  Bert, Cleary, and Helmer were all past due.  All three of them had chances during our little goal-less skid, but couldn't convert.

Miller is just a bonus...I'm digging that kid.  Here's what Babcock told The Free Press:

"Miller made a good play getting up the ice there and causing the turnover and a good goal. I didn't think we were great in the first period, but as we got playing and stopped turning the puck over, suddenly we were faster. It's an interesting game that way -- if you look after the puck, you've got a way better chance of being successful."

And I think it's worth repeating to say that Jimmy Howard has won six of his last eight starts.  Are you starting to believe?  Skeptics will stay in the shadows of doubt, I'm walking out into the light and saying that he's playing his way into a contract extension.  What do you have to say, Jimmy-boy?

"I feel good out there.  It's no secret what I'm doing out there -- I'm just playing out of the blue and just allowing myself to be big out there and just letting the pucks hit me, and just not trying to overdo anything or try to be too flash. Just stop the puck."

He's going to get his third consecutive start on Thursday against the 14th place Edmonton Oilers.  Do you believe?
