Khan(!) talked to Mr. "6 Wins in Last 8 Starts" Howard. This is what he had to say:
"I knew I was capable of doing the job. I just needed to go out there and show everyone. Definitely, it was motivation over the course of the summer, going into training camp, to prove people wrong.''
We all know how Mike Babcock feels about rotating goalies, but just in case you needed another reminder:
"It doesn't matter what your name is, it's what have you done lately? We're in the winning business, and if he gives us a chance to win, he gets to play.''
Jimmy is 7-2-1 in his last 10 starts, posting a .913 save percentage and a 2.40 G/A average.
"You never want to see someone get injured or sick, but it allowed me to get a little more comfortable. I feel great out there, trying not to overdo anything, not get too high, not get too low. Just continue to practice hard, working with (goaltending coach) Jim Bedard, watching video and preparing for each game. I've been practicing staying out of the blue (crease), just letting pucks come to me. Keeping my knees bent, glove up and out, keeping my body out, not giving shooters much to shoot at.''--Jimmy Howard
He'll start his third straight game tonight. The Oilers jumped to a 4-0 lead the last time they faced Howard and the Wings. I'm expecting a better start tonight.
