From Khan(!) late last night...
"It's definitely huge when my line, Abby's line, whoever's playing on the third and fourth lines can contribute. It's a lot of pressure for our top guys to be scoring all the time. They usually do an unbelievable job, but the odd game, we definitely need the third and fourth lines to be contributing.''--Darren Helm
Noticed Derek Meech on the PP? He's out there, and not by accident. The sometimes versatile, sometimes frustrating defense-man talked about getting time with the man advantage:
"It takes a little while, but when you got guys like Lidstrom and Rafalski to watch from and learn from in practice, it makes it a little bit easier. I'm just trying to get out there and be simple, not do anything out of my realm, just get the puck to the net as much as possible.''
No glaring mistakes thus far. No short-handed breakaways (knock on wood).
Let's see how we fair on Thursday against a struggling Edmonton Oilers, whom just lost their consummate leading scoring, Ales Hemsky.
Are we going to play the slump-breaker, or the bully?
